| Before I forget, SF was a lot of fun. Sadly, no clear view of the fireworks over by the Embarcadero but I did (finally) get to go up to Twin Peaks. Highly recommend it on a clear day. Oh, and Bluebottle coffee. Delicious. Philz coffee was too strong, but it works well with a sweet pastry. For pictures, go here. | | |
| I am alive. No gas leak. Or at least one that hasn't killed me yet.
btw, I went to see "Slumdog Millionaire" and recommend it for anyone who wants a feel good movie. Now I want the soundtrack.

| I am convinced that there is some sort of gas leak in the apartment building. There's a strong odor in the hallway right around the 2nd floor unit. But no one else is around due to the holidays.
And yes, I already called 911 and the fire department (two large trucks, PLUS an ambulance) rushed over late last night. Their little gas detector didn't detect anything unusual. And I felt really embarrassed. But after having been gone all day, and walking back into the building tonight, I still smell it.
I'll have to call the gas company, I think, but without anyone being in the 2nd floor unit, they can't do anything because the leak is not coming from mine. And I think the owner of the building dislikes me right now because the heat is not reaching the 3rd floor. Well, at least this apartment is drafty enough so that I won't die due to the gas fumes...

| Random:
• Watching NORAD track Santa is pretty cool.
• I almost forgot about Festivus: Festivus for the rest of us!
• I'm torn: go to the 7p.m. service or the 11p.m. one? Turns out, my parents are going to the earlier one. But, but, but... we've never gone to the earlier one before!
• I have latkes to look forward to later this weekend. That, and the Nutcracker ballet! The latter should be really exciting. The former will be tasty.
• It's raining here. I hope the weather's ideal for flying next Wednesday morning when I head out to SF. I can't wait... Hopefully if you're traveling, you're not stuck at an airport or being turned back.
To you and yours, have a Merry Christmas!

| It's 2 a.m. and I'm stressed. Just 16 more days to go before the end of the year. I need to start putting together a retrospective of sorts. It won't be as gruesome as last year's with the nasty nail stuff but 2008 was a weird year. Plenty of weird dreams--including Saturday night's--that's for sure.
Random, but with all the recent lay offs and cutbacks at work, including mine (anyone know of anyone who needs an editor?), no one is expecting a corporate holiday party. No big thing especially since I thought last year's was such a bust. But guess what we got as the corporate gift? a cashmere scarf. I mean, it's nice and all (much better than last year's which was a big umbrella with the company name in big bold letters) but cashmere scarves for all the employees? for real?
Time to call it a night...
